About the Artist

Ross Jones is an artist who makes broadly political artwork. Ross' more recent work seeks to distil a complicated political issue into one of its constituent parts, the painted object becoming a symbol for a wider theme.

Ross has been a practising artist since 2005 and has exhibited throughout the UK, including being selected by Goldsmiths Curatorial program to exhibit at the 2006 Celeste Art Prize, a survey of current painting practice across the UK. In 2007 Ross was selected to exhibit at both the Birmingham Open and New Art Birmingham and later the same year was shortlisted for the Jerwood Drawing Prize which aims to promote and reward talent and excellence in contemporary drawing. In 2008 Ross was selected by Richard Billingham to exhibit at the West Midlands Open and is also one of thirteen artists selected to exhibit at the 2008 Exeter Contemporary Open.
